BUILDING PERMITS (For new construction or remodeling)
Are you building or adding on to an existing structure for your new business ?
1. A plans examiner reviews construction documents submitted for commercial and industrial projects, tenant improvements, and miscellaneous structures.
2. Building inspections must take place for all new and remodeled commercial and industrial buildings, tenant improvements, and other structures to ensure they are in compliance.
a. Schedule a building inspection
(Mon-Fri, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, schedule at least 1 day prior)
BUSINESS LICENSES
Are you going to be selling something or providing a service ?
1. SELLING SOMETHING, so I need a PRIVILEGE SALES TAX LICENSE.
a. This includes clothing stores, grocery stores, restaurants, and retailers that will be collecting a sales tax.
b. Sales Tax Application (PDF)

2. SERVICE PROVIDER, so I need an OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE.
a. This includes law offices, architectural services, contractors, accountants, and other service providers.

3. I DON’T KNOW.

TURN ON CITY UTILITY SERVICES
Are you ready to start using water, sewer, and trash collection services ?
1. WATER & SEWER. I need to turn on the water and then have that water go down the drain.
a. Please contact Customer Service at 520-287-6571 to turn on your water and sewer service. You will need the following:
i. Proof of occupancy (lease agreement, etc.)
ii. Picture ID
iii. Monetary deposit (depends on size of water account)
2. TRASH SERVICE. I need a dumpster large enough for my new business.
a. Commercial refuse service agreement (PDF)

PAY MY SALES TAX
Are you ready to make your monthly or quarterly sales tax payment ?
Please download the sales tax return form found below, fill it out, and then remit payment to City of Nogales: (checks payable to CITY OF NOGALES)

b. Bring completed forms and payments to City Hall
